The UCF/SVAD Film Program Undergraduate Orientation is being held on Friday, September 1st at 3pm in VAB 132*. All current and incoming students should make every effort to attend to get updates on program related activities.

Students enrolled in supported production courses should stop by the Film Equipment Room, NSC 157, to have their UCF ID cards scanned for access to Film Program production facilities. Supported production courses for the Fall 2017 semester are as follows:

  • FIL 2461 Cinematography I
  • FIL 3534 Sound Design for Film I
  • FIL 3876C Experimental Cinema I
  • FIL 4162C Feature/TV Writing I
  • FIL 4301C Documentary Workshop I
  • FIL 4486C Directing for Film II
  • FIL 4434C Capstone I
  • FIL 4566C Editing II
  • Students enrolled in an approved Independent Study
  • Film, MFA graduate students

* Due to the university’s facility reservation system, the current location of the Film Program’s undergraduate orientation is tentative. Please check back a few days before the event to confirm its final location.

The Film Program’s production and classroom facilities will be closed to student access on Tuesday, March 14th at 6AM (advanced to Monday, March 13th at 5pm due to carpet layers being ahead of schedule). The main hallways of the NSC building are being carpeted during Spring Break and Tuesday is focused on the Film area. Facilities will reopen for student access at 6AM Wednesday, March 15th. The 2nd floor of the NSC building is being carpeted Friday, March 6th and Saturday, March 7th.

Other areas of the NSC building will be impacted by this project through out the Spring Break period of Friday, March 10th – Sunday, March 19th (see diagram).

Students enrolled in production courses who wish to check-out equipment anytime during Spring Break need to turn in their Equipment Requisition Form by 3pm, Friday, March 10th. The Film Equipment Room operates with a skeleton crew during the break (as student employees like to enjoy the time off too). Having a grasp on the needs of the upcoming week help us make an effective employee schedule to cover the workload.

Students can modify their orders after submission (add/drop equipment), we just need to get a reading on how many check-outs are happening and when.

Film Equipment Room hours are from 9:00am to 12:30pm and 1:30pm to 5:00pm during the break (March 13th and March, 15th – March 17th) and return to normal operating hours of 8:30am to 12:30pm and 1:30pm to 5:00pm on Monday, March 20th. The Film Equipment Room will be closed for business on Tuesday, March 14th due to the carpet being replaced in the NSC common areas.
